In the InBio Laboratory at Institut Pasteur, we use the OptoWELL to activate an optogenetic promoter that controls gene expression in S. cerevisiae. Besides having an easy-to-use software, the instrument lets us upload custom-designed protocols from .txt files, enabling us to control the illumination intensity, the time of the experiment, and the emission wavelength for individual wells.
