I’m Varun, working in the bioprogrammable materials group at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials. We engineer bacteria to make them responsive to different stimuli (e.g., light!) to produce drugs. When we combine these bacteria strains with new materials, we can create innovative drug delivery systems.
We wanted to see how tuneable our drug production systems are. We used the optoWELL to parallelize different illumination programs (intensities and pulse duration) over several days. This allowed us to finish the project in a few weeks compared to months that it would have taken us with our simple, home-built system. (DOI: 10.1002/adfm.202212695)
